Final Voyage

I am most saddened to report the final voyage of two very wonderful friends of our extended Perry. Ironically they were both called to the Lord on the 17th day of July 2009. While we all know that one day that voyage will be ours and also that of our loved ones, the pain is never lessened when that time comes. Hopefully, our reflection of the fond memories we shared throughout the years will help us through these most difficult times.

Bob Rau, SN1 45-46 (Plank Owner) - Anyone that ever met Bob Rau can easily recall his charm. Just ask his beautiful Alice and she will tell you he won her heart and kept it through their 60 year marriage. Bob loved his extended Perry family and was a strong supporter of our association. He never missed a reunion until he was physically unable to be with us in San Antonio. In Wahington, DC he had difficulty walking but he proudly walked up to center court with his charming smile to receive his Plank Owner and perfect attendance awards. Anyone knowing Bob personally, knew he exemplified the type of person you want by your side when you need help.

My reflection of Sandy Noroski is a women that will always be remembered by everyone who ever met her. She was a roll model that every woman would aspire to. She was loving, caring, unselfish and a most cheerful person. Even when speaking to her several weeks' back she never spoke about the pain of her illness. She was focused on the good times we had at our reunions and was looking forward to yet another good time at our Pensacola reunion. She loved her extended Perry family and above all she loved her sailor Bob Noroski. Sandy never missed a reunion and I know she will be with us in spirit when we again gather in Pensacola to reflect on the memories of our youth.
